Volunteer and Staff Training and Resources
Training and Resources
This page contains OpenSight's safeguarding and training modules and should be used alongside the accompanying videos (linked within this page). Together, they explain OpenSight's safeguarding values, how to recognise abuse, and how to respond to and report concerns safely and appropriately. This training applies to all staff, volunteers and trustees.
Before getting started, we advise you read the following information:
These short models are here to give you the key information you need to work confidently, safely, and in line with the law.Â
Each topic is presented as a short video, followed by a quiz in a Microsoft Form. The videos are designed to be straightforward and easy to follow. The audio of the video is the only information you require, the images in the video are there to support focus, they contain no information. There’s no time limit on the quizzes.
You don’t have to rush, feel free to pause the video at any time, take notes, and reflect on how the information relates to your role. You’ll also find a transcript alongside each video, which can help if you want to check a detail or prefer to read alongside each video, which can help if you want to check a detail or prefer to read along. It’s also a useful tool to help you answer the quiz questions.Â
We understand that completing quizzes isn’t everyone’s favourite thing to do. Your strengths and the skills you bring to your everyday work are what really matter. But the content in these modules is important – it helps keep you and other safe, respected, and informed. So, please take your time, use the resources provided, and don’t worry if it takes a little while to work through.Â
If anything is unclear, or you’re not sure how something relates to your role, please ask for help. We are here to support you and would be happy to talk through any questions or discuss how the topics apply to the work you do.Â
Thank you for your attention, your care, and for being part of a team that values doing things right.Â
Once you have completed the form for a module, and clicked ‘submit’, you will see a thank you message. The next step is to click on ‘view results’ so you can see your score and the correct answers for all the questions.Â
If you got some of the questions wrong, please note the correct answer and retake the assessment. See the section below for a step-by-step guide to the process of checking your score.Â
We will also be notified and update your record to show you have successfully completed the training.Â
Once you have completed all the sections and hit submit, you will see a message like the one below:

Select ‘view results’ to see what your score was. If you did not get all the answers correct scroll down the page to view any sections that indicate the answer was wrong. See the image below for an example:Â

Scroll down again to see the correct answers indicated by the green ticks on the left hand side of the answer as shown below:Â

Make a note of the correct answer and then retake the quiz. If you have any questions about why a particular answer is correct, please contact us.Â

OpenSight's Safeguarding Modules
Take your time to carefully work through the following modules, and contact us if you require any assistance along the way.
OpenSight Safeguarding Introduction
This policy applies to all staff, volunteers, trustees, and anyone working on behalf of OpenSight. It is designed to ensure that children, young people and adults at risk are protected from harm and that any concerns about their welfare are addressed promptly and effectively.Â
Recognising Abuse and Signs of Abuse
As we only see our service users occasionally, the signs of abuse can be subtle. Read through the information and then move onto the next module to find out how to respond to abuse.Â
Responding & Recording: incidents, concerns, or disclosures
Your observation could be the missing piece of a puzzle that allows social services to build a complete picture of a person’s safety. By staying observant and acting quickly, we ensure that our limited time with our service users provides the maximum possible protection.Â
