From the 9th to 15th of June, we’re recognising loneliness awareness week, a national campaign to break the stigma around feeling alone and start real conversations about connection and inclusion.
At OpenSight, we know that loneliness can hit especially hard for people living with vision impairment.
When vision changes, everyday activities can suddenly become difficult. Leaving the house, staying in touch with friends, enjoying hobbies, these things that many take for granted can quickly feel out of reach. The result? Too many people feel invisible, isolated, and cut off from the world around them.
We’re here to change that by bringing people together through:
- Local peer support groups.
- Community events.
- Help with technology to stay connected.
- Practical support and friendly guidance.
Because reconnecting with life starts with feeling seen and heard.
This loneliness week, we want everyone to know you are not alone. If you or someone you care about is affected by sight loss and feeling isolated, please reach out. Whether it’s joining a local event or just having a chat, we’re here.
