Information & Advice
At OpenSight, we are passionate about empowering individuals with the resources they need to lead fulfilling lives. Â
Our team provides personalised support, innovative tools, and comprehensive guidance to help those with vision impairments thrive.
Low Vision Assessments
A Low Vision Assessment (LVA) is a comprehensive evaluation designed to assess how reduced vision affects your daily life and to develop strategies to help you maintain your independence. During the assessment, our highly trained Independent Living Advisors will work closely with you to understand the specific challenges you face and to tailor solutions that address your unique needs.Â
We also offer personalised guidance on navigating eye conditions, enhancing mobility, using technology and accessing audio resources. Our aim is to make a meaningful difference with continuous support.Â

Local Information Hubs
Local
Information Hubs
We host monthly information hub sessions at various venues across the county which provide visitors with the chance to meet our friendly and knowledgeable staff in person, without needing an appointment or having to travel long distances to unfamiliar places. Â
Our Information Hubs are places where people with sight loss can get practical help and learn to use technology to make the best use of the sight they have, which will make a massive difference to their mental wellbeing. We would encourage anyone with friends or relatives who are blind or partially sighted to let them know about this new service and to come along.Â
Our team is ready to assist with all matters related to sight problems, including questions about aids, equipment, daily living issues, and statutory benefits.

Insights: A Supportive Two-Day Workshop for People Living with Sight Loss
Join OpenSight and your local Sensory Service team for a two-day workshop designed to bring people together for in-person networking, sharing lived experience, and gaining practical insights into living with sight loss.Â
The workshop will be delivered by experienced professionals, many of whom have lived experience of sight loss, from a range of organisations that provide services and support across your area. Each session is designed to offer clear information alongside opportunities for discussion, interaction, and peer support. Key topics include mobility and independent living, accessing benefits, the role of the ECLO, and the support available from RNIB, including online counselling services. The workshop will also explore library services, sports and leisure opportunities, travel and transport options, assistive technology, and confidence building.Â
The workshop is open to any adult living with sight loss who is newly diagnosed or who may be finding it difficult to adjust. Attendees are welcome to bring a family member, friend, or companion for additional support while they explore the information and opportunities available.
We are excited to bring the sight loss community together and look forward to welcoming you.
