Disability Living Allowance (DLA) is only available to those under the age of 16. If you are over the age of 16 but below state pension age you may still be eligible for Personal Independence Payment. If you are above state pension age you may be eligible to apply for Attendance Allowance. DLA is there to help cover extra costs that come with having a child who requires additional support.
Criteria
To be eligible for DLA you must meet all of the following criteria:
- Be under the age of 16
- Need more help and care than other children their age who do not have a disability
- Be living in England and Wales when you claim
How much is it worth?
If the claim is successful your child will receive either the higher, middle or lower rate for daily living components and either the lower or higher rates for mobility if they qualify for the mobility component.
