Friday 25th July
Steve, Eva and Danny have already conquered 295.14km (last updated Wednesday) and they’re just getting started! This isn’t just a cycle tour, it’s a bold journey to raise awareness for people living with sight loss, and they’re putting everything into it.
Incredibly, they’ve already raised over 20% of their fundraising target – in just the first week of their 12-week journey!
Here’s how the last few days have gone:
Day 1 – A Tough Start
It began with sore legs, aching muscles and honest words from Danny:
“It’s just painful in general to cycle.”
But the support came flooding in:
“You’ve got this guys! The beginning is always the hardest. You’ll soon be pros! Hope you made it to your planned stop xx”
They powered through, and that strength set the tone for the week.
Day 2 – Digging Deep
Half way through the day with 35km down out of a planned 70km and five intense hours in the saddle.
Steve really felt the pressure today but pushed on like a champ. Resilience is building fast.
Day 3 – Real-World Challenges
62km smashed, but it wasn’t smooth riding.
The route changed last-minute, leading the crew through chaotic West London… not ideal when navigating with trailers and tandem bikes in the pouring rain.
But this day meant more than just physical effort:
The stress and obstacles they faced highlight the everyday barriers experienced by vision impaired individuals and exactly why this journey matters so much.
It was a challenging ride, but a powerful reminder of OpenSight’s mission.
Day 4 – Finding Their Flow
They powered on, gaining momentum and settling into the grind. Grit, growth and good vibes.
Day 5 – Grit Meets Gratitude
Minor tweaks made to Eva’s bike helped things along.
Another 55km done, and their campsite? It had an assault course.
Danny still had energy to take it on. No stopping this guy!
Talks of a rest day began – after six consecutive days riding it’s well-earned.
Day 6 (Today) – Rest & Recovery
Today is all about recharging: catching up on sleep, replying to your amazing messages and getting updates out.
Eva’s resting up after a bit of chest tightness – sending her all the healing vibes in time to catch the ferry on Saturday.
The team’s spirits are high and they’re 100% committed to what lies ahead.
Thank You to Everyone Who’s Helped Along the Way

Words from the Road
“It’s been tougher than we thought, we’ve learnt a lot, and we’re looking forward to getting on the ferry.” – Steve & Eva
“Lessons learnt, tough things overcome, enjoyable times still to come.” – Danny
Let’s keep cheering them on – every kilometre brings us closer to greater awareness and better support for the vision impaired community.
They’re doing this for a cause that matters, and they’re doing it with courage.
You’ve got this, team. We’re with you all the way.
