Blind persons tax allowance is an extra amount of tax free allowance for severely sight impaired people. It is an extra amount you can earn tax free per year.

Eligibility 

You are eligible for blind persons tax allowance if all of the following apply to you:

  • You are registered blind or severely sight impaired 
  • You have a certificate that says you are blind or severely sight impaired (or a similar document from your doctor)

 

How to apply 

To claim, you will need to call HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) on the number below. They are open Monday to Friday 8:00am – 6:00pm (except on bank holidays).
